Caroline Cotler, AMFT

Caroline received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Santa Clara University. She completed her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Northwestern University. Caroline’s clinical training was in Integrative Systemic Therapy at The Family Institute at Northwestern University where she provided therapy to individuals, couples, and families. As an undergraduate, Caroline conducted honors research and wrote a thesis entitled, Exploring Adolescent Resilience During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Understanding and Supporting Young People During Unprecedented Times. While at Northwestern, Caroline worked as a research assistant in the Anxiety and Panic Lab where she studied the benefits of mindfulness interventions for adolescents with anxiety and depression. Caroline also worked as a crisis counselor for two years, supporting individuals struggling with self-harm and suicidality.

Caroline utilizes an evidence-based, emotionally-focused approach while working with a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and body-image. She provides guidance to clients navigating emotional regulation, stress management, and life transitions. Caroline also works with clients launching post-college, assisting them with identifying their educational and occupational goals. In addition, she assists families and couples experiencing relational difficulties and seeking connection.

Whether Caroline is working with individuals, couples, or families, she focuses on gaining insight into the full context of their lives, rather than addressing symptoms in isolation. Caroline strives to create a safe, supportive space where clients can explore their experiences, gain clarity, and move toward meaningful change.
