Ashley received her B.A. in English with a minor in Psychology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington in Wilmington, NC. She knew that she was passionate about working with individuals by utilizing warmth, compassion, and active listening. With this is mind, she graduated undergraduate and immediately began her master’s program in Marriage and Family Therapy at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. Ashley’s internship experience while in her master’s program consisted of working within an intensive outpatient center where she primarily treated individuals suffering from substance abuse. Many clients that she treated further struggled with various mental health diagnoses including PTSD, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and suicidal ideation.

Ashley’s treatment interests consist of working primarily with women and adolescent girls who are struggling with self-confidence and esteem issues. This is because she believes that our insecurities and self-esteem can inhibit us from truly flourishing. Ashley has a certificate in Systemic Multicultural Counseling and is interested in continuing to work directly with marginalized populations including but not limited to people of color, the LGBTQIA community, women, and immigrants. The theoretical orientations she utilizes most are Solution-Focused, Bowenian, and Satir. She prefers to take a collaborative approach, meaning that she views you as the expert of your own life and is simply there to provide you with the tools and training that she has learned!

Ashley works full-time as a Recovery Counselor within Trilogy Behavioral Health Services here in Chicago. Her role within this position consists of working with clients who are on Medicaid and are struggling with severe mental health diagnoses and substance abuse. She assists her clients by teaching them independent life skills as well as how to advocate for themselves. She is working part-time with Rose Family Therapy and is looking forward to meeting you and beginning your therapeutic journey with you!
